Top 3 Holiday Movies

By Isabel Kallman

Yes! Now that Thanksgiving is memory, it’s time to break out your favorite Holiday movies. These are the ones we’re playing at our house:

1. Love Actually

This one is for adults and, according to Common Sense Media, older teens (16+). The opening and closing airport scenes slay me every time (oh, the big fat tears). I remember going to the theater in 2003 to see this one. So happy to see that it has become a holiday classic and thus is on constant play on lots of TV channels.

2. Elf

Boy was I surprised to fall in love with this movie. Will Ferrell is classic goofy and Zooey Deschanel is so adorable that I even forgive her for behaving like such a snot as a guest judge on Top Chef this season. Now, we have this movie on constant replay at my house. It has some potty humor so Common Sense Media recommends it for kids 7 and older.

3. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

For younger kids, this is by far our favorite movie. And, we’re talking the 1965 animated version, NOT the Jim Carey one. When the Grinch’s heart grows three sizes, so does mine. Each time. Common Sense Media recommends this for the 4+ crowd. I recommend it for anyone in a bad mood.
