DIY Father’s Day Gift for Your Superhero

Jun04

by Guest Contributor

By Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day!

It may seem like a good superhero is hard to come by these days. For Father’s Day this year show appreciation for your real-life hero by gathering his favorite treats and put together a box of supplies from your own newly-created Super Hero Supply Company.  Don’t worry, we’ve made it easy for you.  Below are all the labels you need to put together a great care package.  You just need to print, grab some glue and scissors and you’re set.  The bonus is that this is a great project for kids to help out.

Supplies

* Wooden Photo Box (found at a craft store)
* Various Glassine and Cellophane Bags (found at a craft store)
* Your Super Heroes Favorite Treats -the labels (provided below) are pretty generic so you can rotate in his preferred flavor.
* Downloadable PDFs (provided below)
* Either Adhesive Paper OR Glue (we like Elmer’s Repositionable Mounting Spray)

Step 1. Buy Dad’s favorite foods. We used Gourmet Rootbeer, Jerky, a King-Sized candy bar, and various munchies that we transferred to baggies.

Step 2. Using our Downloadable Templates (#1 and #2), print the labels onto adhesive label paper or print it out on regular paper and use Elmer’s Spray Mount.

Step 3. Cut out the label shapes.

Step 4. Transfer the treats to the Cellophane and Glassine bags. Adhere labels to each item.

Step 5. Tuck them all in the wood box, put on the address label and surprise dad on Father’s Day morning so he can have the energy to fight tantrums and continue saving the world one meltdown at a time.

Superheroes are a big deal in our family….I made this today for an early Father’s Day gift for my son to give my husband (his stepdad). My husband LOVED IT – and loved how custom it was with all his favorite treats!

My husband is a firefighter and, as such, he really is our real life hero. I hadn’t come up with any great Father’s Day gift ideas just yet and, well, I’m done looking. I’ll be taking the boys shopping on one of his shift days next week and we’ll put it together on another of his shift days.

I’ll be sure to post pictures and link on Father’s Day!

What a brilliant idea! I’ve been so busy working on getting other people’s father’s day gifts shipped that I haven’t even thought about my own (shame I know). We just printed out the labels and my 5 & 7 year old are so excited to pick out some of dad’s favorite snack foods. Thanks so much for the freebie!

LOVE IT!! Something cute, cheap, and creative – all rolled into one. Why is it so hard to find such for guys these days?? My guy is a super hero fanatic – loves all things Batman, Superman, Marvel Comics, etc. I am so excited to do this for him with my little girl (she’s only 1 but what the heck).

This is a really great idea. My husband and I recently miscarried and have no other children. I was thinking of something thoughtful to do for him on Father’s day without calling so much attention to the “father” part.
