Book Gifts for Tween & Teen Girls
We asked the vibrant community of our partner site AllyKatzz, the safe social networking site for tweenage girls (aged 9 to 16), to answer a number of open-ended questions about what gifts they want this holiday season. The full list is coming on Friday.
Books ranks high up on the Tween Girl Wish Holiday List (details forthcoming). Does that not warm your heart!?! Yeah, us too.
Specifically, the tween girls told us which book titles they want as gifts (these are in alphabetical order– we will list the rank next week):
What we discovered when surveying our Alpha Moms whether or not they would allow their tweenage daughters to read these books is that moms are not really familiar with the majority of these young adult book titles. For other than Nancy Drew and Twilight, moms told us that they need more information before making a decision on these purchases.
But 73% of our surveyed moms also told us that they would consider buying a book title that they are NOT familiar with if it has been approved by other moms. (23% of our surveyed moms told us “Maybe”).
So, here at Alpha Mom we took matters into our own hands and asked moms of tween and teens girls to read some of these young adult titles and give you the skinny on whether these books are age-appropriate for your daughters. Check them out:

Thanks Alpha Mom!
I just found your site and it’s great to find information about what tween girls want to read.
I’m the author of a book for tween girls that reviewers have said remind them of Harry Potter and Ella Enchanted. I know how important it is to check out what your children are reading so if you’d like a preview you can get the first 4 chapters of Annie Clark and the Pearls of Wisdom at http://www.lauracbrowne.com.
