Secret Agent Josephine’s Children’s Books

Dec01

by

I am bursting with pride and happiness for our longtime contributor Brenda Ponnay, and the launch of her kids’ book series under her alter ego, Secret Agent Josephine.  Brenda has been a team member of ours for over five years and her distinct work is found throughout  on our site.

Raise your hand if you read our Pregnancy Calendar while expecting, written by Amalah?  I knew from day one that I wanted Brenda to illustrate it.  I became a fan of Brenda’s and her artwork back in 2005 when she was pregnant with her daughter “Bug.”  At the time Brenda would make doodles for her own blog and her illustrations were always funny and friendly.  I knew that she was the right fit for us.

Since then Brenda has joined us as a crafts contributor, sharing the innovative art projects that she creates with her daughter and her friends.  She is crazy talented and beloved.

So, without further ado I present Secret Agent Josephine’s book series:

Secret Agent Josephine's Children's Books

In true early-adopter spirit (Brenda has been blogging since 2002), Brenda’s children’s books are available as ebooks as well as in print.

iPad/iPhoneABCsColors, and Numbers.

KindleABCsColors, and Numbers.

NookABCsColors, and Numbers.

Paperback: ABCs, Colors, Numbers.

I think the ABCs book is perfect for babies and toddlers to explore on their own.  The Colors book uses fun alliteration that will make toddlers and preschoolers giggle and will be a fun challenge for young readers. The Numbers book is chock-full of fun illustrations for young ones to count.

I really wish Brenda’s books were around when my now eight-year was younger.  I just know he would have spent hours swiping the pages back and forth on our iPad, quietly soaking up at her artwork.  As every Mama knows… Silence is of the Gods…only monkeys chatter.

Giveaway:
Now here comes the fun!  Brenda is giving away one print today of the letter “M” (update: I made a mistake.  It’s actually the letter “M” from Brenda’s ABC book– whee!).  To enter, just leave a comment telling me your favorite TV character mom.  The comments will close at midnight on Dec 5th and I’ll randomly choose a winner on December 6th.

Congratulations Brenda, and I can’t wait for the next book!

Brenda’s books are so awesome! I bought all three for my baby nieces for Christmas. My favorite TV mom would have to be: Ma Ingall’s from Little House on the Prairie. So kind and so strong!

Growing up I loved watching The Brady Bunch, so Mrs. Brady STILL stands out to me. :)

I’ll say Ms. Anderson from Father Knows Best. I used to watch that as a kid and I stayed home sick from school. But I really, really want a letter M. I’ve been waiting until the M day give away!

Hands down my favorite (who’s on prime time right now), is Claire Dunphy from Modern Family. She is my twin. My husband and I laugh and laugh at how similar we are :)

Back in the old days before I was a mom it would have been Carol Brady from The Brady Bunch. Now that I am a mom, with teenagers, it is definitely Frankie Heck from The Middle.
