Earth Day Craft: Globe Ornaments

By Brenda Ponnay

We recently hosted an Earth Day-themed craft party. We made two crafts: recycled art postcards and we also painted some Globe Ornaments. We also made some Earth Day cupcakes. This post is a tutorial about how to make Earth Day Globe Ornaments like we did.

Earth Day Globe Ornament Tutorial

First, paint on your continents into the inside of the globe in green. Let that dry. It’s a great idea to have two crafts going at the same time so you have something else to do while you wait for paint to dry.

Once the green is dry, then paint blue over top the entire inside. Don’t worry, the continents will still show up from the outside even though you can’t see them from the inside after you’ve covered the inside completely. Also don’t worry about brush strokes because the brushy-ness will look like waves and weather when you’re looking at it from the outside.

Then pop your ornaments together and attach at the top with some string or ribbon. Add an asterisk where you live with your permanent marker and write a Happy Earth Day message or You Are Here!

Then gift to your favorite Earth-loving friend. Or just save it for Christmas because really, Earth Day is something we should celebrate every day!
