Advent Calendar Printable Game
It’s that time of year again when you realize you didn’t buy an Advent Calendar in time and they are all sold out. Have no fear we have a printable game that will probably be more fun anyway. All you need to do is click and print. Perfect for procrastinators!
This advent calendar is designed to be like a board game. You move your game piece along one step each day and take a card from your deck of cards to see what surprise or event will happen that day. You can number your cards (one for each day) or you can choose a card corresponding to the color you land on the board, or just choose a card randomly from your set of 25. Really, this game is open-ended, so you can create your own rules. You could even use this as a board game after Christmas by playing with dice like the classic board game Candyland.
What we like about this advent calendar is that you and your child can work out the activities yourselves. Can’t fit tickets to the Nutcracker into your schedule this season… Maybe you don’t have snowfall where you live so you can’t make a snowman… No problem! This calendar is customizable. We’ve got blank cards for you to fill in and write your own events and activities. You can even turn a trip to the dentist into festivity if you have to. Just write it all on the little cards, number the cards to the corresponding date (if you choose to play that way), tuck the cards in a little mason jar (or cup) and you are ready to play!

My kids had a lot of fun making up their own advent calendar activities: hiding presents, indoor ice-skating, dressing up like an elf…they had a blast. Of course, I included a few surprise activity cards too so that the kids can look forward to something unexpected.
For our game pieces we created little snowmen and gnome characters out of polymer clay that you bake in the oven, but anything would work: monopoly pieces, Lego minifigures, even a favorite pebble….
We hope you enjoy your countdown to Christmas!
