Moms looking for parenting information at all hours have a new source of information. Alpha Mom TV, a new digital cable, video-on-demand television network that as of press time was scheduled to debut Tuesday on Comcast.
Alpha Mom TV is the brainchild of former Wall Street executive Isabel Kallman and Vicky Germaise, former senior vice president of marketing for Atlantic Records.
The programming features experts and experienced mothers dispensing information on such topics as childbirth education, maternity wardrobes, sleep, preparing a preschooler for success, and adopting children from China. All programs are of short duration, usually 15 minutes.
“Moms are stressed,” Germaise said. “A one-hour-long magazine show would never survive. They can’t wait for the topic they are interested in to come on. This way they can access the content any time. They can fast forward and rewind.”
Alpha Mom products are in the works. The first will be a line of lullaby CDs in the summer, including rearrangements of hit rock songs from the last 30 years.
