Insider, Retail News and More: Alpha Moms on TV

By Isabel Kallman

Macy’s West and Loews Cineplex Entertainment are reaching out to moms in conjunction with Alpha Mom TV Network. The network launched on Mother’s Day and is a 24/7 parenting channel available as an exclusive video-on-demand network for nearly 8.5 million digital cable subscribers through distribution deals with Comcast and others MSOs. Alpha Mom is the brainchild of former Wall Street executive Isabel Kallman and former Atlantic Records Senior Vice President of Marketing Vicky Germaise. Macy’s West will hold seminars in the children’s department at stores that tie back to Alpha Mom TV Content. Loews Cineplex will hold monthly presentations at its Reel Mom events such as bringing in Soho Parenting for a discussion on sleep; Liz Lange also is scheduled to make an appearance.
A licensing and merchandising program will be an integral part of the program with an Alpha Mom Lullabies CD Distributed by Razor & Tie Entertainment hitting shelves in August and a compilation DVD of original programming due in fourth quarter 2005. Additional categories such as T-Shirts and other items will be available this summer at Alphamom.com. Other categories such as musical toys and books are being explored for 2006.
