Wendy Bellissimo Returns with a new Baby & Kids Collection

By Isabel Kallman

wendy bellissimoThere are some entrepreneurs who are so inspirational and important that you want to tell all your friends about them so that they can join you in cheering them on in their continued success.

Wendy Bellissimo is one of those entrepreneurs.

I first heard about Wendy when I was pregnant with my son back in 2002. She was THE designer of stylish nursery bedding. Wendy single-handedly changed the market which before then was awash in licensed characters. (Would you like Winnie the Pooh or Snoopy?) The woman is a pioneer in the juvenile products industry.

Surprisingly, I hadn’t heard about Wendy for several years. And then I learned why.

Wendy put her business on complete hold when her then eight-year old daughter was diagnosed with an inoperable rare life-threatening cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma. Wendy dedicated her entire energies to her family (she has four young girls). Her calendar was filled with radiation and chemotherapy appointments, and being at the side of her daughter and her three other young sisters. I understand full and well that not every parent who is facing the same circumstances has the flexibility and option to put one’s business or career on hold to be with a sick family member. Although I am sure she never doubted her decision one bit, it’s still not easy putting aside a franchise, that took years to build, for even a minute.

The great news is that her daughter’s cancer has been in remission for one year now. YAY!

And, Wendy is back at her drawing board. Wendy is launching a new baby and kids collection which will feature apparel, footwear, diaper bags, and bedding.
