Little Easter Critters
Spring is full of cute little fuzzy, furry, fluffy creatures and we’re making this fuzzy baby chick to display, just in time for Easter. You can almost hear it peeping with excitement for the Easter Bunny to come.
Supplies for Little Easter Chicks
– Styrofoam balls – all sizes
– yellow tissue paper
– pipe cleaner – (aka chenille stems) orange
– googley eyes
– glue – a hot glue gun works best, but his can be assembled with craft glue
Tutorial for Little Easter Chicks
Cut little squares of yellow tissue paper and scrunch them up into little yellow balls. Apply glue to a small section of the styrofoam ball. Place scrunched up tissue onto the glued area. Continue this for the rest of the styrofoam ball until it’s all filled up. You can make yours look a little fluffier by being a little neater in applying, but with my kids, this is how it came out 🙂
To make the legs, cut a piece of orange pipe cleaner in half. Bend it into a long triangle, then twist it up together, making the leg. Then bend the triangle foot forward so it can stand. Now press the leg end into the bottom of the styrofoam ball. The pipe cleaner should stick right in.
For the face, place glue on googley eyes and attach them to the face side of your chick. Also add a small piece of orange pipe cleaner bended in half for a beak.
You’re done. Now you’ve got a cute little chick to display for Easter. And you can even craft a fun little Easter Bunny with some of the other styrofoam balls you may have.
