Daily Discovery: Custom Artwork by The Voyagers

The Voyagers Custom Art

Since last week, I’ve been featuring artists (TUSH TUSH, Kiki & Polly) from whom I have commissioned some portraits of my son. This custom illustration (above) was done by Maia Larkin Chavez who is now a full-time children’s fashion illustrator. Although she is no longer taking on custom requests of the type she made for me, we are all really lucky that she is still taking commissions, though a bit different but lots of fun!

Instead Chavez Larkin is now doing customized articulated paperdolls on commission. If you’re looking to display a collection of different types of portraits of your children, I think this is a creative way to do it!

The Voyagers Paperdolls

The final product is an original graphite illustration on Bristol vellum. The set is 8 1/2″ x 11″. Because of the nature of the paper dolls, Chavez Larkin is doing children 5 years old and up. Currently, in her shop, The Voyagers (on Etsy), you can see examples of the style of the articulated paper dolls. The commissioned paper dolls are $95 plus shipping.

As with any Etsy shop, my recommendation is to liaise directly with the artist via their Etsy shop about questions and requests. My experience is that the artists are friendly and easy to work with.
