Sea Shell Coloring Printable for Kids

By Brenda Ponnay

It occurred to me that we’ve done a lot of crafts around here using sea shells for art projects. But what if you don’t live near an ocean and haven’t been to one recently on vacation? So we decided to bring the sea shells to you with a sea shell printable!

My daughter and I enjoyed researching shells on the internet and with books from the library. Maybe you will too. They come in all shapes and sizes.

We found it interesting to learn that the warmer the water is that shells live in, the more brightly colored they are. What?!?!  How is it that I am 40+ years old and only discovered that now?

That’s why shells from our Pacific Ocean off of Southern California are always soft shades of gray and white and sometimes and peach or light yellow (if you’re lucky). But sea shells that we buy at the local shell shop that have been shipped in from warmer tropical islands are always a brighter color and full of contrast.

I don’t think there are any neon shells in nature but that doesn’t mean we can’t color them that way!

I hope you enjoy this sea shell printable as much as we did! And, it makes for a great summer activity. Actually, anytime of the year will do.
